Stand Up Desks For Students The AlphaBetter™ Student Desk
The AlphaBetter™ Student Desk is the first in a line of Stand Up For Learning work
stations from Sunway, Inc. This patent pending adjustable work station is designed
to fit most any student from grades 3 to 12. The legs will adjust from 26” to
42”, which is above the industry standard, to accommodate the wide range of height
differences in students. The greater adjustability also provides a school with the
flexibility of a “one size fits all” desk for each classroom.
The steel frame construction of the work station gives the unit long lasting durability and greater stability at all height ranges. All accessories and add–ons are constructed of steel and finished in a powder coat paint. The work surface is available in a wood/vinyl combination or an industrial composite material. The wood/vinyl combination uses a wood inner core covered in a Kydex® thermoplastic material. The Kydex® is impact, fire, and chemical resistant and extremely durable in high activity areas.
This combination portrays the look of a more traditional school desk. Our composite material, called phenolic, represents a more modern work surface design. It combines a sleek, thin profile with the wear, impact, and heat resistant characteristics needed to meet national standards.
Stand Up Desk Special Feature
The Pendulum™ Footrest Bar. To help with body ergonomics and posture the
AlphaBetter™ Student Desk integrates our “patent pending” Pendulum™ footrest bar.
A footrest bar is used to naturally correct body position and ergonomic posture
while providing stress relief for the lower back.
There are other advantages to the free swinging Pendulum™ feature. Additional
freedom of movement increases comfort for better learning and may translate
into health benefits such as, helping to burn off excess energy and increasing caloric
expenditures. If you think this will cause a distraction, think again. Our design keeps
the Pendulum™ noise free even with your most vigorous swinger. When you don’t
need a footrest there is a locking mechanism that will conveniently store
the Pendulum™ out of the way.

Standing up at a work station is not a new concept, especially in the
workplace. However, it is a totally new concept for the classroom.
Now, some of the same benefits being realized by employees
and businesses can be applied to the student in the

The AlphaBetter™ Student Desk fulfills both
classroom needs as an individual desk and a
project–oriented work station. The design of
the desk and the size of the work surface
allow it to be positioned in a traditional classroom
setting, but with the added bonus of being big enough
for more than one student to work around it.
*Testing related to the health and academic advantages is currently being conducted
at the University of Minnesota as well as other independent research facilities.
Adjustable Height Stools For Stand Up Desks
These stools are height adjustable to complement the AlphaBetter™ Student Desk. Even
though standing up to learn is a good thing, sometimes a time out to sit is not only recommended
but necessary. Our stool adjusts from 21”H to 35.5”H to accommodate grades 3-12 and then
some. With a steel construction and “tip resistant” leg design, the stools are durable and safe.
For our feet, a metal, swivel glide is provided. It also works on many types of floor surfaces.
An added feature is a four sided bar, connected between the legs, strategically placed to catch
dangling legs.
These stools are built for comfort, safety, and durability. Our spacious, 13”W square seat
provides ample sitting room and the 5/8” thick wood material covered in Kydex® thermoplastic
provides the durability.
